Loop Library Tips and Tricks

Step-by-step guide to Loop Library Tips and Tricks

Loop Library: Overview

The Loop Library is the information stored in the content (files and notes) you have added to a Loop. That content can consist of word documents, PDFs, text files, slide decks (PPT), and spreadsheets (XLS). When you upload a file or create a new text document or note in Looplet, the AI assistant extracts the information and stores it for use in the Loop.

Note that the Looplet version of the content might not look the same as your original file, especially spreadsheets, slide decks, and other files with complex formatting. Rest assured that the information itself is the same, it is just being stored in a format that is easier for Looplet to reference, called Markdown.

File names

When uploading existing files to Looplet or making a new file in Looplet, make sure the filename is clear so that you can quickly identify what information that files contains later.

Complex File content

The AI assistant can get confused when a Loop contains content that is complex or confusing, for example complicated spreadsheets and tables (especially if they contain commas) or lots of content that is very similar but not exactly the same.

Always doublecheck complex content in the Loop

If you add a complex file to a Loop, always view the Loop's version of the file to make sure Looplet correctly interpreted the information. If any of the Looplet information is incorrect, you can either:

  • Edit the Looplet file directly to correct the information.
  • Edit the original file to make the sentence structure and/or formatting more straightforward, then re-upload it to the Loop.

Editing Loop Content

When you want to change the content of a file in Looplet, think about whether you should edit the original document and re-upload it to Looplet or whether you should edit the Looplet file directly.

Edit the original document and re-upload when:

  • It is a living document that people access in other ways.
  • The Looplet content must match the original document exactly.

Edit the Looplet file when:

  • There is no document outside Looplet with that information.
  • You make the same edits to both the Looplet file and original document.
  • The original document is no longer being used as a source of truth by anyone else.

Edit a Looplet File

To edit a Looplet file directly:

  1. Navigate to the Loop whose content you want to edit.
  2. Scroll down to your files.
  3. Find the file you want to edit, and click the Edit File icon.
  4. In the pop-up editor, make your changes.
  5. Click Save.

Removing files

If there is a file in your Loop that you don't want to be used by the AI assistant to generate notes or answer questions, you can delete the file or exclude it from being used by Looplet.

Exclude a File

To exclude a file from being used by Looplet, untoggle the Include in Answers option. This is useful if you may want to use the file in the future, but you don't want to delete it, for example:

  • You added information in advance and it is not yet applicable.
  • The information is no longer relevant, but may be useful again at a later date.

Delete a File

To remove a file from your Loop completely, delete the file. You can do so by:

  • Deleting the file directly from the Loop dashboard
  • Or deleting the file from your Files tab on the left dashboard menu.

Occasionally go through your files to delete unneeded content and update outdated content.
